Zanzibar Projects in Full Gear

Tuesday was a great day! The day started with a breakfast of eggs, fruit, toast w/ Nutella (the main highlight was the Nutella brought by Miriam and Brandon Madeiros).

All of the Zanzibar projects got off to a great start! The team was divided into three groups. Doug M. (aka Doug-em, not be to confused with Doug R., aka Doug-er) and Cindy traveled with Kathy, Bishop Mgullu, and the additional doctors and nurses to the local hospital where the Minister of Health had scheduled a press conference. They had a chance to share the purpose of the visit to include the medicines and affiliation with CBC and CMF through Bishop Mgullu. They also received a tour of the hospital and were joined with the local doctors to assist with the patients. (Pictures to come as available...)

The other part of the team traveled to the local church site, where they assisted with Vacation Bible School (VBS) and the onsite construction of a new feeding center. Though there was a small mix up with the VBS supplies, the group did a wonderful job improvising with what they did have. Needless-to-say Karyn's animal balloons were a huge hit and Duck-duck-goose is universal. The entire team was blessed in working with the children, who had enough energy to lighten up the whole room!

All the commotion at the church also attracted the interest of local village women. They stopped by the church and observed the Vacation Bible School program with their children.

The feeding center construction was off to a great start. The team met with the lead contractor and assisted the day workers in laying the foundation, which included placing the rebar and adding the mixed cement after drawing water from the nearby (and deep!) water well.

After a full day, the team was able to enjoy dinner together at a local resturant and enjoyed an amazing sunset!

I am glad all went well with the medications and the hospital. We think of you all the time. I would like to see a picture of you in action at the hospital. In case you didn't read my email, Dr. Bob wants you to go to Burundi in March. It will be a small group and the rest will go to Sierra Leone. He knows you love a new adventure. Tell everyone that The Lighthouse church in Santa Monica is praying everyday for you.

We love you,

Bill Cheryl and Michael

Karyn,
Note to self... check for new blogs in the morning before putting on eye makeup... The picture of you holding those beautiful children - I'm sure it won't surprise you that there were tears. And the balloon animals looked like great fun! We are so proud of you and happy for you that you are living one of your dreams! Our prayers continue for you and the team to have a huge impact on the lives there, as we're sure they are having on you! Caper is fine, but misses his momma.
Miss you and love you lots!

Hi to Barbara, Jay, and all the Tanzania Team. The Blog is a wonderful way for all of us back in the U.S. to keep up with what you are doing. The photos and descriptions are great!! I am always amazed with your accomplishments at the end of each day. It is truly a beautiful place, and it has adorable children. I'm sure they are being blessed with your presence. May our Father continue to guide you in your service and keep you strong and healthy.

Barbara and Jay, I hear from Christine that she and Scooter had a lot of special times together over the past weekend and that he got settled back into his Pet hotel. I know he misses you, but he seems well cared for. David called to say that Willa had made her first attempt at crawling, and, at 10 weeks old, she is in the 90th percentile for her height and weight. I miss talking to you, but I am so proud of what you are doing.
Love and Hugs, Mom

Hi Miriam, hi Brandon,
Alles Liebe, Deine Mareen
Liebe Grüße auch von Daniel und Finley

Hi Kathy,
I just wanted to write a note to acknowledge you and all you have done and are doing for the team. I cannot even imagine the prep work andfollow-through it taken to make this successful. I know you have a great team as you said, but as the leader of the pack, you are most appreciated!

charger on my Mac and and running low on batteries. We plan to get the computer Center
up and running tomorrow and may get faster
access. DSL speed is very slow in the Hotel and
everyone wants to use it. Larry has been my portable brain and has rescued me from loosing my luggage more than once. If you don't hear from me, it's not because I'm not trying. There
